Whistler Opening November 18th

Whistler blasted folks today with an email about their opening 6 days early:

The Apline Forecast is calling for up to 35 cm (14 in) of snow in the alpine before opening on Friday, adding to the current snow base of 55 cm (21 in) at Pig Alley. Additionally, the Whistler Blackcomb snowmaking team has turned over 50 million gallons of water into snow so far this season, the equivalent of covering 250 football fields with up to 30 cm (1 foot) of snow.

Blackcomb is still scheduled to open November 24th. Can’t wait, because like many Seattle-ites at Thanksgiving, I will be making the pilgrimage north!
