Larry over at Ski Washington issued a Powder Alert this week, No Trick – all Treat, here’s a preview:
Recently, we’ve had a little snow above 4000 ft. But this upcoming snow pattern promises dumpage, which will get your attention… and move your spirit, refocus your priorities. The Climate Prediction Center suggests a cool and wet (with mountain snow) for at least the first half of November. This is an optimum pattern for the possibility of an early ski slope opening in the NW, although factors beyond snowfall can play a role in early opening. Rule of thumb is we usually need 2-5ft new snow to at least partially open, but it depends how the snow comes in.
Certainly this pattern, if it comes in as depicted on the models, has the possibility of early an opening (before Thanksgiving)
