Ed Viesturs, author of No Shortcuts to the Top and K2: Life and Death on the World’s Most Dangerous Mountain, is going to be at Town Hall as part of the University Book series talking about his most recent book The Will to Climb that was just published a few weeks ago.
Bainbridge Islander Ed Viesturs is one of the world’s premier high-altitude mountaineers and the first American to climb all 14 of the world’s highest mountains without supplemental oxygen. But after two failed attempts to climb the world’s 10th-highest and statistically deadliest peak, Annapurna in the Himalaya, his successful 2005 ascent was the triumphant capstone of his climbing career. Viesturs, author of The Will to Climb, explores the dramatic and tragic history of others who have made—or attempted—the ascent of Annapurna, and what these exploits teach us about facing life’s greatest challenges. Presented by University Book Store.
Tickets are $30 with a copy of “The Will to Climb,” or $5 admission only at Brown Paper Tickets or 800/838-3006.
